This is probably the most complex piece here, great job! It obviously looks kinda strange because of the lack of freedom you were probably experiencing overall but its a great showcase of patience.
I'd like to know why you would do this to yourself? It came out looking great though, so at least I hope that you found your time well-used. Looking at this though reminds me of one of the main reasons that NURBS may be looked down on: What you are doing is actually building the restrictions of your model. But even so, very creative on your part to take this on.
Kudo's for tackling something so complex with something so difficult to work with. Still a little rough around the edges (we talked about that in class), but still really good.
