Its looking good but I would go a bit deeper with the variations in texture. This monster looks like it would have rougher skin and with that comes a wide range of texture. Look at rhinoceros skin or something similar for reference, they have different kinds of skin throughout.
I love this drawing! Very cool creature. I would maybe look at making its pose a little more relaxed. It just looks a little stiff. Although the pose doesn't really matter until animation, I just couldn't think of anything I would want to change.
Nice concept drawings. The creature is also unique which is nice. I personally like the colors. Is this going to have skin or fur? That could really determine the textures you're going to use.
I like this one, it reminded me the Varren in Mass Effect but is still very distinctly your own. It would be cool to see if these animals were tamed or something and had tribal marking or something. Just a suggestion, overall i liked this one.
Well this is gonna look amazing, i really do not know what to say other than the fact that i have a great amount of confidence in your abilities. Oh! and getting the muscle right for such a lithe and powerful hunter seems like it may be an issue.
That's going to look sick in 3D Good structure, very unique. I love his hungry look. A few things I would keep in mind. Are the spikes flexible? The length to thickness makes it appear so. If they weren't they look like they would snap easily. I would shorten the tail just a bit. It already looks like a burden to carry. To the best of my knowledge, 4 legged creatures have shorter tails.

It has skin like a tree frog's, smooth and oily. Wow Patrick tribal markings would look awesome on it, didn't think of that till you mentioned it, unfortunately I don't believe I wrote the lore so that any of the races tamed these since the Swamplands are mostly devoid of creatures of greater intelligence. Maybe I'll add a race somewhere that tames them, I have a whole world to populate after all.
@Danny, the spines can lie closer to the back if it needs to move through smaller spaces, this one is a male that would proudly display his spines to show off while it wasn't hunting. As to the tail it's extra long on purpose so that it has decent range when attacking it's prey with the spines located under the plates. I wanted it to have a kind of scorpion like attack as it ran by.

ReplyDeleteThese concept sketches are well done. I like the color scheme and it really gives off a "poisonous" vibe.
ReplyDeleteYou may want to study quadruped muscle structure to really nail this character's high poly.
