This is an idea of what a Mayan Samurai might look like. They are pretty conflicting ideas but I like Mayan design as well as Samurai mentality so I combined them.
This is a great concept for your character Buddy, I really like the combination of the Samurai and Mayan warriors, very unique. your tatoos and designs for the cloth work extremely well also. I can wait to see this model finished.
Your art style is sort of similar to Dima's. Not the brush stroke style of course, but the way you pose the character and the body style gives off a Dima vibe. I especially like the cloth wrappings around the limbs and the markings on the arm, leg, and chest.
The mask is really sweet and I think it would be interesting if you have a few variations of mask styles.
Also I like your weapon better than James' even though its pretty much the same :P
Same problem as with James is the fact that you did not give turnarounds, i for one would really like to see them to get an idea of just how much work your gonna be doing.
I like this concept. Nicely draw and unqiue. It actually reminds me of that guy on the borderlands posters. You really like samuari characters don't you?
I also really like the textures and colors you chose, it really makes the character pop. I don't really have any crituqes as long as the model is nice and high-poly and looking accurate.
I defiantly like the idea of making mask variations, I think that would be fun. I will probably draw some of those up when I start drawing the other angles.
Nice. I enjoy these concepts that blend multiple cultures. I think that the style of your drawing will lend itself well to being modeled. The outfit that you have shown has a good balance, with varying textures and colorful accents, but with asymmetrical application in some spots. I will agree with what you said in class regarding changing the outfit up a bit, to give it that real good blend of the two cultures. As it is now, it seems mostly Mayan, with a hint of Japanese. That said, it works well if what you were going for is the Mayan equivalent of a Samurai.
love your concept if you want to add more a a samurai feel to i you might add waraji sandals in addition to the rice paddy hat.

ReplyDeleteReally like the style of this one. Combining different historical times into a single model would be really cool to see.
