  1. The material effect in his armor is really strong. When you go to texture it you should use a similar technique. The shield is the weakest part, I don't really get an idea for how it is composed by looking at this drawing. Even though it is for your reference, I would suggest making it a bit clearer. This is a good concept, I especially like the characters face; I think it portrays that race of people well. Make sure you carry that over to the actual model, it will make your final model more authentic. His legs seem a bit huskier than the top half of the drawing; when you do your orthographic drawings, make sure they are in proportion.

  3. This concept looks awesome. The armor design like Buddy said is very powerful. I like the cloth portion of the outfit as well. You may want to think about changing the color of the shoes a little to break it apart from the color of his skin.

  4. I really love this one. You have a clear understanding of the human figure and I love the specularity in the armor. This will be good for a 3D reference. Mind the wrinkles. Also keep in mind that there are many colors in shadows in highlights as well. Shadows can be blues, reds, greens and all those good colors.

  5. Very nice Mr. Scott. I saw you working on this and it looks very accurate despite you saying it was "basic" haha. It all works very well together and from a quick google of mayan apparel it looks very much like the period.

  7. Nicely drawn concept and also a cool idea. The overall look to Roman characters is already pretty cool looking. The different cloth colors are nice and I look forward to seeing the high-poly model.

  8. Great use of references in this. Combined with the well rendered drawing, I think you made it very clear how you want this character to end up. The armor is very detailed, and I really want to see how it will look when it's done.
