Condorick Humanoid

Here's what I have so far for my character.

  1. I must have missed this in the orthographic scrum... Those arms need to be re worked if you are ever going to use the as a reference. They have no structure and look mangled.

You should also try giving him actual bird legs instead of human shaped legs with bird texture.

one other thing that i just noticed is the direction of the feathers on his legs would make it hard to fly forward because they would be catching all the wind and pulling the feathers back.

  2. i really do not know what to say about this one... i wanna see where it goes but as it stands i really do not know what i am looking at. The arm seems to go all over the place on the left side and is the body still part of the picture or is it the model? i cannot tell.

  3. Cool concept. Interesting wings as well. I see that he has bird legs in the side orthographic, but you'll need to spread them in the front Even human feet have the base of their foot longer than the base of their own leg. The head is also too small. I would get an anatomy book and study how the human muscle structure works. One thing that really helps me is turning a side view or front view of a human into a silhouette. ans studying the different curves and bulges

I know this is going to seem rough, but if you keep working with what you have now, it's going to be a pain. I would study topology and edge flow for humanoid characters. If is an idea that there is a loop of faces going around the chest and over the deltoids. You'll have to look it up. In addition to that, make sure you're giving yourself clean geometry for the wing. Try strip modeling as well. It may seem slower, but you'll get more control of the shape and edge flow.

  4. This one like the people above me have said will need to be re-drawn. With the legs that close rigging will not be a fun chore. I would agree with what Danny Loo said above me.

  5. Interesting concept character. However, really early start. Add more detail and get to work on it. Don't take this post as being aggressive, just actually get something done, so I can give you proper feedback. Keep Going!

  6. I would be careful with how skinny he's looking from the profile view. Also, look at reference pictures for the structure of bird wings. They do actually have fingers technically...I think....i know bats do....but anyway, yeah just keep working, it's a very cool idea

  7. too early to tell much but you should make the arm part then use a couple of planes for the wings, or at least that's how i would do it.

  8. The wings should be fairly easy to do.

Your side view sketch looks really squished. You may want to use reference photos for the few bird-men you may find on Google Images.

Also, Tyler Paneitz just did a bird hybrid creature for the Art Jam this weekend. You may want to talk to him to see how he did his model.

Starting in ZSpheres is not a bad way to start for things like this. You may want to look into that also. If you see me by the Cintiqs I'd be glad to show you how to use them if you don't already.
