Midterm.

My progress thus far has been less than seller.
I started out with a simple concept of an idea for a techno-organic ship but it did not pan out.

Eventually i ended up changing my models concept and started with something new, this is everything i have so far.

I am however having problems with the texture, i cannot get it to look right and thus have been unable to produce a working normal that is up to my standards. I hope to expand on the model and add in animation and different glows into the textured to produce light on the ends of the antenna and on the surface of the ship to emulate windows. I still have a lot of work to do and am falling behind but i hope it all works out.

  1. What are the problems you are having with your texture map? It looks like a good base to me. Just get plenty of texture pictures and implement them into the texture along with painted textures to really make a nice texture.

  2. The uv's are looking great, I don't see much stretching but I do see some arias that are loosing detail because of how small the UV is. It looks like a pretty efficient layout for the UVs but if there are some arias that you want to bring more detail to, you might want to re prioritize the scale on the different UVs.

  3. the issue with the map is personal preference, i cannot get it to blend the way i want it to.

  4. You have a good base for your diffuse. I like the grainy look to the metal.

Your model lacks a bit of detail I would expect to see on a vessel like this. Some sort of series of windows and grooves between plates of metal. I know you're not done, obviously, but that's something to consider as you work on it.

  5. I like how it's looking so far, especially the texture. For the texture, you should also add some more details or it gets kind of boring to look at, but i do really like the base for it.

  6. good base model but I agree that it'd be great to have something more going on with it visually.
